Does anyone know what I can do to keep from being so queasy?  And, PLEASE don't say crackers.  So far, they only make me feel worse.  And, don't suggest Powerade, Gatorade, etc.  Those REALLY make me want to throw up because they remind me of being sick as a child.  When I would get the stomach bug, mom ALWAYS made me drink these things.  Now, whenever I drink them, I think about having the stomach bug.

I got to your site from Adrienne's. I wasn't really sick with our first, but this second one . . . yeah . . . sick. I tried "Preggie Pops" and believe it or not, they worked! They have ginger, I think, in them that really helps with the sick feeling! Hope they help!

Yeah, the ginger thing is the way to go. At your local health food stores you can get ginger extract in pills, ginger beer, ginger ale, ginger snaps (Raonna, if you loved her enough you would have already made her some) etc. Ashley also tried a peppermint/ginger extract pill that helped.

Another thing that helped Ashley was a decent protein snack (i.e - turkey sandwich) just before bed and I would leave her peanut butter crackers by her bed to eat when she opened her eyes. It seemed that if she ate before her body realized it was awake the nausea stayed a bit.

There has been debate on dramine yes and no but you could safely try the bracelets people wear while deep sea fishing.

I hope you can manage it. Take care. The girls prayed for you last night and are excited wou have a baby in wu tummy.

Ginger Altoids, you can get them at Central Market.

(I got here via the Bourgeois family blog... I was pregnant with my first while teaching at a Christian school in Austin! Now we live in Virginia and miss it.)

Looks like people are finding ya'll through me and said alot of what I would have said. I was sick with Stephen and sicker with Alexis. The deep sea bands didn't work for me. They were too tight and only hurt. I wore them for like a day and then conveniently lost them. Crackers are a joke also, but french fries and frosties worked pretty good. Something about the grease and salt with sweet. I didn't find that eating one thing or avoiding another thing really helped. If something sounded good at the time I would eat it. Usually I would pay for it, but if I was going to be sick from toast/crackers or a hamburger well then just go ahead and eat the hamburger. The GINGER was the one thing that really helped. I got ginger pills from the vitamin aisle at Wallyworld and took a couple of those every day. They don't work like Tylenol where you can just pop one when you are feeling bad. But when I was taking them regularly then I noticed a difference in how I was feeling. I just had to keep them in my system. The Ginger beer that we got at the Old Wheat Barn was also good at calming my stomach. It tastes like GingerAle just a little stronger. Brad bought some candied ginger root and he loved it. I didn't like it too much, but it helped to eat sometimes too. They even make Ginger Altoids now. You can buy Ginger tea and drink it hot or cold. Unfortunately mostly you just have to learn to live with it. With Alexis it got progressively worse up until 13 weeks and then poof! magically one day it was gone and never came back. I hope that it will be that way for you. So excited for you and praying for you.

Also, find out if you insurance covers zofran. It's a very fine drug!

The highly subjective old wives' (not that I'm old) remedies that I could offer, like Atomic Fireballs, are probably outmoded by the current, and seemingly effective "ginger and Zofran" methods.  I'd be going to the produce aisle and getting some fresh ginger root, shredding it and making it into some recipe to nibble.  The only drawback to that would be, of course, that you would likely begin to associate the taste of ginger with "kutziness".   Might be better to stick to the encapsulated ginger...

We're praying for this to be a short-lived phenomenon at your house.

You've got a happy place, right? Well, go there and wait it out. One thing that helped me, Little Girl, was keeping food in my stomach--not too much, but, simply, something--anything I could tolerate at the moment. Making a concerted effort to eat just a little bit of whatever seemed the least detestable, every couple of hours, made a significant difference overall, where that bone-nausea was concerned. And resting at every opportunity also helped. BTW, I do love you, and I'll make you some gingersnaps soon.

Yeah for Rona's ginger snaps. Someone made them for our joiny Lord's Day Evening service with Auburn and Grace. I thought of you Rona. I can't say they were better.  I can't say they were close or worse because I haven't had your in so long. I will have to sample and report upon my next opportunity.

Hey,

I have no idea who you are, but I accidently clicked on your site from Ashley and Bub's.  When I was in my first trimester, I was sick all day, every day.  Dustin would fix me a glass of ice water.  It was the only thing that worked that eased the sickness.  I ended up having to switch prenatals because it got so bad.  It worked!  The nurse said I was probably taking too many vitamins for my body make use of, or dispose of, quickly enough; therefore, I would get sick.  Now I take my vitamins with a whole glass of water when I go to bed, and I am fine.  Hope this helps some.

Oh, I forgot to mention that depending on how far you are when you go to your appointment, you may be able to hear the baby's heart beat.  Dustin was not able to go when I went, so a friend of mine suggested surprising him by recording the heart beat on a tape recorder.  I played it for him when he got home that night, and he loved it.  After he listened to it, we decided to play it for our family over the phone.  They loved being able to be a part of that, and it helped the baby seem more real to them.

I am better.  I have taken a leave from school because I have a hemorrhagic cyst on my ovary that causes lots of pain.  But, as long as I don't MOVE, it doesn't bother as much.  Because I can do nothing but nothing, The doc prescribed me nausea medicine.  It seems to be very helpful.  I am now eating balanced meals again and not just toast.

So what will happen/is happening with the cyst?  Will it get better, worse, or cause other problems?  I sure hope you are okay.  Love you, girl

The cyst will eventually dissolve.  They can remove it surgically, but then I would lose the baby.  It has gotten bigger, but I think it is getting smaller now, and it could last for another 6 weeks.  The only problem it causes is pain for me.  It does not effect the baby at all.
